Little and big

We learned the vocabulary words little and big in class. We used the words to describe things in our classroom, and we labeled things in the classroom.
One of our friends even had the words on his shirt!!! We had to show you since we are recognizing that clothes have letters and words printed on them!! It's so exciting to see them recognize the words!

Playdough quality testing

We started our Chemistry unit in science. We experimented with homemade playdough and commercially made playdough. The kids tried to make snakes, pancakes and balls with the two types of playdough.  They generated a list of good and poor qualities of playdough. (The poor quality homemade playdough was purposely poor quality!) They love creating and playing with the good playdough!  Here are some pictures.  The blue playdough was the poor quality and red was good.

Independence with Morning Routines

We are becoming so independent!  We can follow the morning routines so well now!
Since everyone seems to enter the classroom all at once, it gets a little crowded.  This week I will be encouraging parents to make sure their child makes it to our class safely, then they can say "Goodbye" and let their Kinder follow the routines independently.  They will do fine!!  I will be ready to praise their independence  (and parents too!)
Talk to your child about each step of the morning routine.  You can even practice at home!

Library day

We had our first day of Library today!  Your child should have come home with a book.  They get to keep the book for a week and bring it back Monday to trade for another book!
Also, a letter and new record sheet was sent home today for our million minute challenge.
Check those backpacks!

Here we are!

This is a picture of all but 2 of us!!  It's not easy getting 23 five year olds to all look at the same time!

We worked hard this week!  We went to out first all school assembly and we were so awesome!

I will be sending home an email with more information for you.  Please make sure and check backpacks daily.  Most work and mail will go home on Wednesdays, but sometimes things need to go home earlier.

Have a great weekend!
Thanks for sharing your Kinder with me!

Week 1 is complete!

We are wiped out!!  This is how we felt after our first week of Kindergarten!!!

We did it! These smiling faces had their first day of Kindergarten today!  They learned about good choices, toured the school, and much more! 13 kiddos came today, and all of us will be together tomorrow for the first time!
